On the Jason Line shot and Kurt Johnson, there was more than enough light there to shoot ISO 100, you were at ISO 1250. You don't get as many keepers but I would start at 1/200 and then go lower in shutter speed to show more motion.

dmayesjr sorry but I had to remove the [IMG] tags from your images. The Image Posting Rulesonly allow for 8 embedded images by the OP. Thanks for understanding.

It's cool, thanks for letting me know.

And to adamsti, it was my first time shooting drag racing. I went with the same settings I used at the NASCAR race here last month. I shot the early afternoon stuff in ISO100, but did a few hours of walking around with my 17-40L, and needed more light to shoot under the hauler awnings. So I switched to 1250. I got a little bit of heat exhaustion, and went back to my seat. I forgot to reset my settings for the zoom lens and that was the end result. Not making excuses, just saying what happened. Thanks for the tip. Maybe next year.

You managed some good shots here. As we all know, time and experience are the greatest teachers. LOVE the Brown shot...as usual. The camera on the ground shot...makes you go hummmmm. :)

I got lucky when I took pit images at the same event around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. I mounted my old Tokina 19-35mm lens on my Rebel XTi, put the camera on program AE and ISO 200, and wandered through the pits. Since I decided to give the IS wide angle a rest, I took three or four shots in sequence and chose the images from those sequences that turned out clear.

Program AE chose a lot of shutter speeds in the 1/30-1/80 range. Fortunately, enough of the ISO 200 shots worked to make the setting useful. And showing up so early in the morning was a good move since the pits weren't crowded - except for the Force cars.
