Two things that immediately jump out for me are that both need straightening slightly, and I would crop out the light on the left. It would make a stronger focal point of the group in the first picure, and I find it annoying in the second photo because it has been cut in two on the edge of the frame.

I think it would be nice without the people. The first one looks like a drug deal going down, which makes the second one confusing.

I really like the first one...I took a go at editing it. Basically all I did was crop, straighten and blur the background.

The people don't help the first picture, but in the 2nd picture the people ARE the picture.
Congratulations.

A question for you - do you see what looks like a Moire' pattern in the sand that goes from about the middle of the picture to the left margin? Is that furrows in the sand or did you take the picture through a window screen?

Thanks for the suggestions, particularly about the cropping and straightening. These photos are right out of the camera with no editing. As for the Moire' pattern, I didn't take the picture through a screen. To the best of my recollection, that was the pattern on the ground before the wood decking.

Bob, I haven't posted too many, but you've always been encouraging in your comments. Thanks again.
