Could be the more complex the background gets, the bokeh becomes more abstract.... Just my two cents in the matter...

?!

If anyone has a spare hood please let me know. I just need the set-screw lock. Can be broken, cracked or whatever. I have been looking everywhere with no luck and was hoping someone could help. Even sent mine to midstate and they didn't have the right part.

My hood is in great shape it is just missing the set screw. I am frustrated to the point of making my own. I am going to make a template tonight and look for the associated parts. I have the ability and material avaiable I just don't want it to look like crap.

I actually modified a neoprene knee brace to hold the hood on. It is less damaging than gaff tape and reuseable. It still doesn't look the best but it's better than tape. I found out I can use the lock off of almost any non-is telephoto like the 600mm f4l, 500mm f4.5L, 400mm f2.8l or 200mm f1.8l. They all have the same lock so if I can find anyone of those hoods in any shape I am good to go.

There was one on ebay here in Aus that ended for something like $120 a month or so ago, which i forgot to bid on!
Alternatively, you can try this link (external link) if you want a diy solution.

Anyone know of a place where I can buy an inoperable 300mm? I need 1 element near the rear mount because mine has fungus :(. I've been looking on keh, ebay and other forums to no avail.
