Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L USM

^^^^^^^^^The compression is awesome. Really brings out the Wow factor in those. Especially that first one. Well done.

For some job, I had to go a few days in Lisboa ... so I could spend a few hours walking around with the 300L I brought in my bag .. It was worth doing it

^^^^^Amy and Mark! did u tape some pins? exif says 600mm.
i tried 300 2.8 IS with 1.4III and 2X kenko, AF not working after few shots:

Metal1, no taped pins. But, even though it was a fully sunny day (no clouds at all), the AF struggled/hunted/chatt​ered. I definitely could not shoot fast moving action with this setup (such as most birds in flight... the RTH was just floating around very slowly). But, it worked "ok" for fairly static or slow moving subjects. I think that most of the time I'll be shooting birds with the 2x attached and the 1.4x in my pocket for emergency use only.

As for the exif, I was using the 300 2.8 along with version 1 of the Canon 1.4x (on the body side) and version 2 of the Canon 2x (on the lens side). I don't know why it doesn't show up in the exif as 840mm... perhaps it's a 1D3 thing or because the 1.4x is Version 1? Maybe someone else will know better, I don't have much experience with stacking them.

I just picked up a copy of this lens, can't wait to see what it's capable of !
