as of right now i have a 40 with grip and neck and hand strap on it. i was wondering if there is a quick release straps for both or either one and also if there are like just quick release parts that i can attach to these straps to make them easier to take off. he reason for this is that i want to be able to take teh grip off quickly if im throwing it in a bag that doesnt fit the grip. but with the e1 hand strap there is no way to even take off the grip without taking off the strap. i would like to do the same with the neck strap since sometimes it just gets in the way and i just want to take it off quickly so i can do certain things. i remember seeing somewhere on this thread pointing to a quick release strap, like one of those neoprene ones. i might just end up fabricating my own quick release components with some backpacking clips if i dont find any that satifies my needs.

I understand your delima, but if I were in your shoes, I would buy a new bag that would fit my camera with grip attached. It has not happened to me, but I have heard that the constant placing and removal of a grip can cause it to strip or break the gears. I have not removed my grip since I bought it and only tighten it when I have to.

As for a QR for the strap, I would love to hear the responses since I too would like to be able to remove mine when needed...i.e. when shooting on a tripod.

Have you tried the POTN Strap?
Do a search on this forum.

It appears that most Tamrac straps and hand straps have quick release attachments. Take a look at them.

I have the Tamrac Boomerang strap, which is neoprene, and I have the leather strap. I have the handstrap on my 40D as well. I love the quick release for putting the camera in a bag without finding a place to jam the strap in with it. It is also really handy when using a tripod. I can tell you you wouldn't regret the decision.

All of that being said...the true connundrum here is the hand strap. I was thinking about this myself, as I have the same setup. I think that you could probably buy a strap with the quick release and remove the clips and install them on the handstrap, or find the connectors somewhere. The only issue I see with that is having 4 quick release buckles hanging off of the camera, which I guess would be 3 if the grip was not attatched... interesting. I will take a closer look at mine when I get home, as my life is being interrupted by work right now.

I have no trouble with my Hakuba handstrap with the POTN strap both attached to my 5D or 40D. The quick release is wonderful on my POTN strap. I use them almost ever time I use the cameras.

There is a 2-in-1 shoulder strap / hand grip from Hakuba. When you use the hand grip, the should strap can be hidden. Take a look HERE (external link).

I do not own one but from the picture, the should strap is too thin and I am not sure how comfortable it will be without the neoprene padding.
