so im interested in getting a remote so i can actually be in the pictures and use it on the bulb setting. would the rc-1 be good?

i recently did a review for a 3rd party (Phottix) timer remote which will give you precise control over your bulb exposure lengths... read it HERE (external link)

it also allows you to set a delay before the shot is taken, so could work for getting you in the shot in time.. if it takes you 20 seconds to get back in the shot, set the delay at 30 seconds, and set it to shoot 5 shots to make sure you get a nice one :)
