Hi all,

I have three of the Alienbees strobes and I'd love to move them regularely and use them in parks. I had a look at the Vagabond and they're quite expensive.

Is there any alternative to such expensive equipment ?

Thanks :)

Not cheaper, but maybe more bang for buck (I haven't compared specs) and less expensive to import to your location.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

The Vagabond isn't expensive AT ALL. It is the single most economical battery solution available for photography on the market, period. The innovatronix is an extra $100, plus about $50 in shipping. Also, I'm pretty sure their marketing is misleading. They use multiple smaller batteries connected to achieve specs that appear to be greater than the Vagabond's but don't really perform in real world scenarios. The next comparable item is the Dynalite XP1100 - which retails for $1200. Going beyond that you're into pack/head systems like the Profoto AcuteB, Hensel Porty, etc and those only start at the $2K mark and head up into the $5K's.

The only way to get cheaper than the Vagabond is to buy your own 300WS pure sine wave inverter (must be PURE sine wave), 12V SLA battery, charger, wire them together, find an appropriate case, and hope it all works. You can probably do that for $250. Or you can save days of headaches and buy something ready made with warranty and full customer service. It's a no brainer.

I've got two Vagabonds and I'm a happy fella.
