Huh, thats odd. I do have a B+W filter that has the text in the front, but Im pretty sure all my UV haze ones have the text on the outer ring... Where did you get the two filters from? Same place?

It's probably legit.

the filter with label infront was bought together with my 70-200.

the filter with label on the side was bought just this morning from another store.

heres another comparison with their respective boxes. notice the # 70252 on the box of the filter with the label in the front?

im anxious that the filter with side label is fake or imitation.

Did you happen to get the one without the part number on the box from hvstar? It maybe the alloy version (without part number), versus the brass one (with part number).

From everything I've read, B+W makes an alloy version for the Asian market; I'd have to find the links again, but I could've sworn I read this heh

Picked up some 67mm UVs from them and the writing is on the outside rim of the filter, and there's no part number on the box, and was clearly labeled Alloy on there site as opposed to Brass which they had as well.

Just tossing out the idea.

hi nate, thanks for confirming.

i also noticed that the filter on the box w/ 70252 (brass) is a bit heavier than the filter w/o the 70252 (alloy) on the box.

i also found a similar problem but in Thai writing (external link)

kindly post the link when you found it. coz im still abit anxious about this issue.

tia!

After a quick search, I found. https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=292807 see post #11. Don't think this is what I had read but its essentially the same. Still looking for any other threads.

http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=31134 (external link) is another link.
https://photography-on-the.net …ghlight=B%2BW+brass+alloy and another, there's a few more on POTN if you just search for "B+W brass alloy".

If this is the case on your filters, the only difference is in the metal ring, the glass itself is identical.

As far as I know, I've never come across anything relating to verified fake B+W F-Pro filters. So I'm betting its genuine, and I'm not normally a betting man :D

Hopefully others can chime in on this a bit.

Don't know if that's how they differentiate them. Weight is probably the easiest, I would imagine the brass to be a bit heavier; how much heavier tho I'm not sure.

If anyone has bought a 67mm UV F-Pro from BH or 2filters lately that knows its definitely a brass ring, is the writing on the outer ring or on the flat inner?

Was just tossing out the idea due to the missing part number on the box.

The brass filters are noticeably heavier...
