Curtis, thanks for putting this together and welcoming the new guy so warmly. Sorry I wasn't able to be there for the picture, traffic up from Chicago was much worse than I anticipated.

I'll have some pics posted later tonight.

Thanks for starting this thread Curtis. I'm glad to see that our community is growing. It was nice meeting up with every one and there were lots of new faces to put the screen names to;).

Here's a few from yesterday. The rest of what I have so far can be found here:

PS: I'm still sandblasting my cameras from yesterday's vile dust:p

Wow, That was fun! It was great to meet everyone and take a few pics. I see I should have paid more attention to where everyone wondered. I didn't see either of the fantasticals pictured above ALL DAY! Great images everyone. I'll get a few up here shortly.

Had a great time at the Faire. Just so everyone knows what a great group this is, Ed (dilorenzo1954) and his lovely wife, Laurie, rescued me from my car trouble and gave me a ride all the way back home -- way out of their way. I really appreciate it and hope to be able to repay the kindness in the future. This is a super group.

Here are some of my favs from the day.

#1 - my absolute favorite

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3079/2819838709_2f458de4ac_o.jpg

#2 - the cloud at the tip of the spear is the explosion from the balloon bursting
IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3177/2820680736_31b5120a39_o.jpg

#3 - Dirk - He is also an avid photographer
IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3206/2820680982_d7bbe8bf8f_o.jpg

#4 - A Scotsman
IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3139/2819839959_b83f503bac_o.jpg

#5 - The Scotsman's sporn. The running joke was that the "boys" were shooting clevages (or "twins" as we fondly referred to them) and I was shooting cod pieces.
IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3117/2819839849_3f9c6a3362_o.jpg

#6 - I loved shooting the joust. Give me an animal to shoot and I'm in heaven.

I love the shots so far. Ed -- great captures of the fairy lady and the devil man. I was going to turn my shot of him to a B&W, also.

If anyone wants to know how to remove the dust from the joust shots, It's an easy solution in Lightroom.

Please excuse some of the shots, the dust was a real killer.

Very nice Paul. It seems you caught the Autumn Fantastikal by surprise LOL! I like the chronological order of the joust. What do you use to process your images? Julie mentioned that she has an action to remove the dust. Me? I boosted the black levels a bit to minimize it.

Thanks Ed, I didn't even try to tackle the dust. I think I'm focused on getting off my camera before getting it out of the pics. :D The majority of my processing is done in LR 2, in fact all of these were only processed there. I would definitely be interested in an action that could get the dust out. Is that action written by EndDust? :D Ok, bad joke.

wow guys, I've really enjoyed viewing this thread! Very nice set of shots! Great action and behind the scenes :)

Ed, I really love your portrait shots. Whatever you've done in the processing has really added to the overall effect (or if it's not processing it's just sweet shooting) to work with the almost magical look of the faire.

(Rim shot!) Get a hold of Julie (ebondanes), She's got the magic trick! That dust was something. We went to dinner afterwards and everything tasted gritty. The mud eaters had it better, at least THEIR dirt was MOIST:p I haven't taken the lenses off the cameras yet, I'm afraid to look inside:rolleyes:

Thanks Permie! I'm using a super secret, "If I told you, I'd have to kill you" filter (Nik Effex , Glamour glow)...Oops:rolleyes: on the Fantastikals, but really faded down. They (the Fantastikals) are very colorful and their expressions really make the portraits.
The fire eater (Broon) and the kid were on a shady stage with the sunlight filtering through. The lighting makes those shots, and those were shot "au naturale"

Here's one that was severely backlit and unusable so I had some fun with the Nik filters...

Ed, I love the shot with the ring. Ashame about the light, such a nice theme. Great eye.
