They ARE? Last time I checked, the Canon version was made of plastic. Hmm, Did they change when I wasn't looking?

The Canon Version is light weight aluminun not plastic. Very rugged and durable.

Does anyone have an opinion on the 52mm lens adapter tube for the G6 found here?

http://www.bugeyedigital.com/product_main/ckc-adg6.html (external link)

It costs half as much ($15 vs. $30) as the 52mm lensmate adapter found here:

http://www.lensmateonline.com/g6.html (external link)

Thanks

Hi Susana,

I have the lensmate 52 mm adapter, and it seems to be better made than the one from bugeye. Of course I'm just judging by the web pic, but the lensmate's milling and general workmanship is simply superb. Like most here, I leave it on all the time, usually with the Raynox wide angle lens on.

Thanks for the responses.

BottomBracket,

Using the lensmate 52mm adapter, have you had a problem with vignetting at full wide? (at full wide zoom with just a single filter)

Thanks

I have my 52mm adapter on almost always, and take my polariser off when taking indoor photos.

Even with my uv haze filter and polariser on together during the day, i do not get any vignetting. (Note i have hoya filters, but i dont think it will be any different with Kenko as the thread will be similiar).

Cheers. good luck

try readin previous responses.

I find currently that my lensmate 52mm adapter, with a HOYA UV filter is fine and even when i attach my polariser to the adapter, UV combination for outdoor shots, i have no vignetting. My 58mm adapter however does cause some vignetting issues.

Nabil-A,

How come your 58mm adapter vignettes? Is it longer than the 52mm adapter? I would think it would be less likely to vignette since it's larger in diameter.

Michael

None at all. Even with my thickest filter (a polarizer) there is no vignetting.

Then there's the argument against filters, etc.

With my G6 I ordered the polarizer and haze filter and the lens hood. I like the look of the camera with the hood on (there's probably a freudian explanation for that) and I haven't used the filters.
