A good B&W photo should have every value from black to white present, and this one hovers in the middle ranges. bingo...its verry muddy, like it was just desaturated....try an adjustment layer of channel mixer to do your b/w conversion, and then if need be another adjsutment layer of levels, curves, or contrast...what ever is your cup o' tea Dustin Your Local High School Photography Teacher!
