HI, I downloaded some fonts and when I open them in winzip it sends them to Photoshop and photoshop comes up with a message that says could not complete , not right kind of document. It is a tiff? Any advice?

I don't think you need to open them at all. Just extract them to your desktop (or wherever), then move them into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.

I'm not an expert, but I think this is right.

Yep just drop 'em in the fonts directory.

By the way, be careful when downloading fonts that they're coming from a reputable source. I've found more viruses in fonts than anywhere else.

Well I spoke to soon. I tried what yall said to do with the fonts and it still has the same error message in CS3. Any other suggestions.

The extracted file should be a ttf file. Start, control panel, fonts, then drag the ttf file to that folder.

I've never had a problem using dafont.com

Yeah you don't double click fonts, you extract the file then put it in the right folder. You may have to restart photoshop to see the new fonts.

if you play around with a lot of type might be worth investing in Suitcase, or a similar type management app :)
