Normally i never buy things as soon as they come out but i have been waiting a long time to make this decision between these two cameras. Of course I could wait longer for the 5DmkII but is probably out of my price range anyways:confused: The price difference would be 300 dollars by just comparing the bodys, or 164 for the 17-85 kit.

Would it be worth it to go with the 50D?

and on a side note how long would it take to see a price drop with the 50D?

Cheapest I have seen a 40D body from a legit dealer is $971 at Amazon. 50D will sell for $1399. Thats $428 if my math is correct. Where are you seeing the 40D body for around $850?

It's Your Monies. Go with what You want. I have the 40D as is, but I Will go for the 50 as well. Never hurts to have a backer and another body that may be well worth it. I will be watching the 50 before I buy though.. Specs are great on paper, we shall see what real world results are too.

I paid $850.00 for my body a month ago from DigiCombos. After reading some of the reviews about this seller, I was trepidatious. I've attached their review page, mine is the second one down. As you can see things turned out well for me.

They are now advertising it now for $825.00, and the 50D for $1,400.00. A difference of $575.00???

Isn't $840 without the lense kit vs the 50D at 1399 with a lens?

That does make a difference.

No, the 50D Body only is $1399.00. $1599.00 with a 28-135 IS USM.
