I'm thinking it's time to add my 400th camera bag and I've been looking at Crumplers lately. Will the 7MDH allow for a mounted 24-70 (on a 40D) or a mounted 100-400 to go in the middle position?

What I'd like is to have is a bag that can hold that combo, plus two other large lenses and a flash in a compact setup. The only bag I have that will allow for the mounted 100-400 is my ThinkTank Holster 30. If that allowed you to attach lens cases, I wouldn't need anything else ... this week.

So anyway, can the 7MDH hold this stuff or am I still looking?

Well, I can fit my 70-200 2.8 IS L on my XSi w/grip with hood reversed in the middle pocket. It bulges the top of the bag a bit, but definitely still closes.

I don't have the 100-400, but I think it's a bit smaller than the 70-200 2.8, and the 40D is about the same thickness as the XSi, so it should...

Yes, but as mentioned it bulges some...still buckles though

I can store the 24-70, 85 1.8, 580 EX, and 70-200 2.8 IS with my Mark III all in the bag. Typically I keep the 24-70 on the camera when using the Crumpler just so it dosent buldge.

Hope that helps...its a great bag

I can fit my 70-200 2.8L IS attached to my 1Dmark III with RRS L-Plate in the middle slot. Sure it's tight to close the bag but it fits.

Also many other things fit as well.

I have the two side slots split in half for extra space.
On the right slot I keep my 85L on the bottom and 16-35L on top and a divider to keep my 580ex in the same side slot.

on the left side slot I keep my 24-70L plus pocket wizzards or extra flashes.

In the middle slot where the 70-200 goes there is still extra room so I keep batteries, memory cards, biz cards, flash module cable, etc... And on the front pouch I keep my RRS wedding pro flash bracket (WPF-1), it's soo compact it fits right in front with the off shoe cord.

If you're a girl or small guy my bag might seem heavy, but for me it's perfect.
I live in the city so people carrying messenger bags are everywhere so I have less chance of being targeted carrying a big camera backpack.
This bag is very stealthy, low key, and keeps your lenses easily accessible. Weight might be an issue for most, I still seem to find my self putting the bag down when I get really into shooting what's going on in front of the lens. But I generally ALWAYS have the bag at my side.
