From the shot taken can I get an opinion as to whether or not this appears to have a focus issue?

Thanks in advance

Shot taken with can 24-70mm

Hi Brittany,

Just try the cam with lens at different f-stops and focal lengths, that is the only way to find out when using a focus chart.

Also, try to line the chart up properly, as it is skewed slightly. The left side is slightly further away from the camera than the right is. Taking this into account, I would say it is fine, however.

Kind regards, Wim

Whenever focus is thought to be an issue, I always break out the batteries or the focus chart and run a controlled test. If done properly it's the most accurate way to either confirm or exclude equipment as the source of the issue.

You need a flat surface, enough light illuminating that surface and at least 3 batteries, preferably more.

Line up the batteries in a diagonal line, relative to the camera and tripod, about the length of a battery spaced apart. Set MLU, use a remote switch, focus on middle battery and take a shot.

The middle battery should be sharply in focus. If not, there may be a problem.

Kind regards, Wim

It's quite simple really. Here is a post of the setup I used to diagnose my front focus issue:

This post is what the lens was doing before Canon calibrated it.
