Hi All

Looking at the Canon site and what's enclosed in the 50D box it seems the manual is now supplied only on disk (or have I got it wrong as usual)- hell! Ain't we now entitled to a paperback manual? I love collecting those little manuals.

Anyone sen the PDF instruction manual on the net yet?

the camera hasn't even hit the stores yet.

it does take some time before the manual or the white paper is available for download.

When I got the 40D, I had that in my hands and the real manual long before Canon's web site was updated with the version.

The list of contents "what's in the box" is exactly the same, and the illustration of the contents is exactly the same for the 50D and the 40D. I did receive manuals with my 40D, in fact 2 complete manuals. One in Spanish and one in English. As well as 2 pocket guides, software manuals and etc.

Already read it.

Actually, I skimmed certain portions (not very different from the 30d).

you get the same thick paperback as you did with the 40D. Its almost identical inside as you might expect, apart from those sections about the new specs.

bit disappointing that it doesn't explain properly what most of the new things do. Nothing about HTP, Automatic lighting optimiser, or how to use the focus adjust. Just basics.

Thanks guys - downloaded and read it in advance of possible purchase. As you say - not much different from the 40D - perhaps an extra 30 pages or so.
