Garden spider, canabalistic, or.. err.. horny?

i walked out to the spot where my normal garden spider sets up camp for the night, and catch him in the act of making his web.

pan a bit left, and i see these 2 spiders intertwined.

I'm honestly not sure what's going on here. few good shots of the fang fully extended. is one being eaten? or are they doing the horizontal shuffle?
