Was wondering if any one has had a problem with the D rebel not powering up. Was on Vacation at Disney and took 60 photo and all of a sudden the camera stopped powering up. The batteries are good (tried them in another camera) Called canon and of course I am shipping it there.

Also how has canon been with repairs under warranty. I was reading that they have the option to replace with a refurbished camera and mine is only 8 months old.

I had it happen once, but it turned out the battery door was a little fussy. You did the right thing returning it, Canon will fix it up good as new. I wouldn't worry about getting a refurb, from what i've read Canon are reasonably reliable in general.

Hi nTang,
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems. That happened to me once, and found out that it was the battery door too. After that... I check the door everytime I put the battery back in.
As for the refurbished stuff, I wouldn't be worried at all. I bought my G2 refurb three years ago and it is still working perfectly.

Anyway, good luck with that.

Leo.

Thanks guys for the reply. Now that you mention the battery door it did seem a lot looser than usual. Hope that is all. It was a big disappointment on the trip to have the thing just stop working

I think the battery door has to latch pretty tightly and apply enough pressure to the battery pack that it makes perfect contact. If that was the least bit loose, I would suspect something.
