Doesn't she look proud, chest out and head back like that? Please go easy on me as this is my first bird photograph. Shot with 300D, Sigma 105mm EX Macro, manual focus @ 1/320s.

She is a nice looking mallard hen . . . birds are fun to shoot, with a camera, lol. Nice picture.

Good shot. Very good composition. Good sharpness. Very good background. You've even got a slight catchlight in the eye - not so much a good thing as how lifeless the eyes look when it's not there.

A little dark perhaps. Adding a half stop of exposure would probably do it.

All in all you get an "Attaboy!" for the first shot. Keep it up.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
