Classes, or even one on one time would be awesome.

Night shots
Portraits
Action

all the basics like I can use the auto setting and all just looking to push it to the next step.

what I'm working with is

So what all is my next step to taking better pics and pursuing this fun hobby

Should come out and shoot with us.
We sometimes do informal workshops and usually help each other out when we shoot.

K, now your talking.

Don't know if Covina is too far for you - 45 minutes or so, but (of all places) I have heard some great comment and recomendations from very respected photograpers about TriCommunity

Crappy website, but I understand they are one of the best games in town

The first thing they'll tell you is to stop using "Auto". (You can PayPal me the money you just saved.) ;)

My best advice is to read the info in the "Sticky"s. Shoot & post here. Read more. Shoot more.
Schools - on-line photog classes.

Because you have a descriptive title, you can look at the "Similar Threads" links at the bottom-left of this page!
Each link you visit should provide more links at the bottom.

+1 for TriCommunity. I just registered yesterday. They're taking registration until they are full. Last I heard they were at 50% (400 registered). For the price you can't go wrong. $135/semester for as many classes you can take AND full access to the studios and labs (computer, film and digital). The digital lab allows unlimited prints on their Chromira printer while the film lab provides you all the chemicals and equipment, you provide the film and paper.

I'm taking 5 classes since that's all I can fit in my schedule and they do have morning and evening classes. The only downside I see IMHO is because it's an adult school, the students in the program are very diverse. From P&S to DSLR owners who bought it because they thought it would take better pictures by itself to people like myself who are looking to get more hands on knowledge on more advanced topics (lighting, portraiture, glamour, etc).

My first class is tonight and as I go through the semester I'll post a thread reviewing my experience. :D

sigh, I'd be all over this program if Covina weren't so far away from West LA!

If tri-community is too far of a drive for you, take a look at your nearby community college. Most community colleges offer some type of photo program, many with night classes.

I heard SMC has some good photo classes. Might want to check them out. As far as which classes, I don't know but here are some links...
