Lead in story: Last year this car collector purchased a Plymouth GTX and drove it to the office, I asked if I could take a couple of shots. Long story short, I ended up croping the car out of the parking lot in the photo and making a poster out of it. The guy purchased two prints at 24x36 and absolutely loved it. He paid me more than I was asking for the shots.

I tried to get him to let me reshoot the GTX after we discussed a poster sized print but he didn't want to do that.

This year he just purchased a 69' Camaro RS/SS prostreet and wants me to do it again for him. I have offered to do some more creative shots but he says I'll just drop by the office and you can shoot it like you did last time. Sigh....

I really think that he doesn't want me to know where he keeps his cars or something, it's a bit strange. He is going to drive a prostreet Camaro all the way to my office for a broad daylight shoot but doesn't want me to come to him or meet somewhere creative.

Anyway, What I am going to have to deal with is other cars in the lot, broad daylight with reflections and all. I think I can probably get the car in the back of the lot to get away from the other cars.

Any tips I can get will be appreciated. Is there anything that you can think of that may help me out? This is not a great situation but I'll have to make the best of it.

Thanks,

Jerry

A good quality, multicoated circular polarizer filter will take you a long way toward solving the midday light. If you don't know how to use a cirpol, read up on it and practice before your shoot.

How big is the lot? Do you have room to work with? Can you use pylons to keep other cars away so a large enough space is available for his car? WHAT color is it?
I shot some of this with the sun shining. 2007 Chevy HHR
Maybe it will give you some ideas.

Thanks, I do have a nice B&W CP. I don't know if I would have thought of that, good idea.

I've seen these shots. Good Job btw. I like your work and used some of your techniques for the GTX processing.

I think I will have room in the back of the lot. It backs up against woods.

Here are some of the build shots of the car. I didn't realize I had this link, it was in a word doc he sent me.

He would like me to incorporate some of these and I'm trying to get him to acquire the originals.

Try and find a large white wall to help bounce light off of and to minimize reflections from the side you are shooting.

Tube frame - very nice job.

I think I will have room in the back of the lot.

Check it out. Put a black car in there & shoot it. See what you get & where you need to have his car. See if you can block out the right area for him.
