Hi guys,

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but here's a shot that I took while at a small concert by the lake. I'm sure most of you have seen this on T.V. The only changes I made to this in Photoshop is a slight boost in saturation and sharpen after resize.

C&C Welcome.

It's an Amphicar. I saw one in the Detroit river years ago. Not much freeboard, especially if there are waves. ;)

Thanks for the name! I was wondering what it was called.

5? Didn't know there could be so many in one place. This is the 1st I've seen in person. Actually, twice, but the 1st one I saw was stationary at a car show.

Nice catch, my Grandpa used to have one of those about 15 years ago. It needed restored after a tree fell on it during a hurricane, and unfortunately he passed before he could start.

Pretty much the understatement of the year. Kinda makes you wonder if any of these ever had any serious use?

I'll take a Tiger, thank you very much

Thanks for the comment! I wish I owned one of these, it would make it less expensive than owning a car and a boat!

I think these were first manufactured in the 60's. Two propellers and front tire steering. This image was taken a year or two ago in the Lake Travis area west of Austin, Texas.

I remember seeing one near Sacramento back in the 80s, but it was different model. It was a larger car and it had one large propeller that basically took away the trunk.

I've been thinking that I should stick a large outboard on the tailgate of my Nissan pickup like the guys on Top Gear.

I forgot to mention that Pres. Johnson had one of these at his ranch in Stonewall, Texas. He would take unsuspecting guests for a drive. He would drive around and would go down the boat ramp to the river and at the last minute, he would holler out "The brakes weren't working!" as he drove into the river and watch for the reactions!
I assume this story is true.
