Here are a few pictures of our newest family member. Please pick these apart so I can learn :) I don't plan on having any more after her but, I'd really like to learn from my mistakes.

Congratulations on the new addition. Enjoy every minute of it, they grow up way too fast.

Great job on capturing the emotion in #1.

I really like how you captured the moment in #1 though, it brings back memories for me of how I felt in may :)

I usually dont like these kind of shots, but you made a very good job capturing the emotion in #1 and #3.

(No CC till now? O_o)
In #2 I would like the focus to be on her eyes, looking up at the doctor with wonder.

First, congratulations on your new addition. Next, that first picture is priceless!! What a wonderful, tender moment. I love it!! And, the gauze bow is the most precious thing I have ever seen (next to Riley Noel that is)!! My goodness what great pictures.

Like the images. You asked for C&C.. 1. Increase the DOF to get the eyes of both subjects in focus, or compose so that they are on the same plane. 2 - rule; always ensure the eyes are the focus - with few exceptions, and your intent is one of them. 3 - this is an excellent capture but IMO the BW conversion could have some more tonal depth. That comes with practice. Plus, everyone sees BW differently - I like rich blacks and whites. 4 - I like it - but would probably "attempt to reduce the pink hue in the skin - even a little.. Otherwise, great work.

Thank you for all the kind comments as well as the C&C :)

How do I get more tonal range in the black and white images without drowning them in black or burning out the whites? As for the eyes being in focus, I can totally see where I went wrong now that you pointed it out (thank you!)
