Do you use them? Hard plastic or the stick on ones? I see its about 50-50, but it seems like they distort the quality if you are scrolling through images... Any thoughts? Thanks!

As far as I have read, they are useless. Its apparently nearly impossible to scratch your screen in any meaningful way and the cost of replacement is neglible. Which is why I personally have never used one and never scratched a screen either. Touch wood ;)

Do have a bit of a search here on POTN because this has cropped up before.

I agree with Anke here. The cost of replacing a screen is really inexpensive but, that's a personal preference.

I had a soft one on my very first D30...after about two weeks I peeled it off and haven't had one on a body since...there really doesn't seem to be any real need for them.

Nope, I dont use either. The plastic cover that is on the camera itself is replaceable so theres no need to cover it. If it gets trashed call Canon and get another for a few bucks. That and I have never once had a scratch on any of the Canon bodies I have owned.

I have a soft one on both my 1DMKIII and 20D. I don't think that I would like to take the chance of not having one.

I recently replaced the one on the 20D because it had a small gouge in it. I don't know from where. I suspect banging against my cell phone.

When I peeled it back the screen was still unmarred. Did it save anything? I felt better.

Just my $0.02

I've never fitted anything to my 20D's screen and it doesn't have a mark on it in three and a half years.

I bought a hard screen stick on one from eBay and it's fantastic. I tend to carry around my camera a lot when I do take it out on walks and I find the camera rubbing against my belt/waistbag/etc. It uses a PET layer that I think helps attach it to the screen using a vacuum type adhesion. Hasn't come off once and I'm sure I've kept off some major scratching (my 20D has already a few scratches and I didn't even use it that often).
