No. There will be an official announcement thread if something is announced.

So once it is announced this thread will die and a new one called "destined dissapointment" will be created along with wish lists for the Mark III camera?

Seriously though, I have high hopes for this camera as well, I just try to keep my excitement down so if it is a flop I am not so dissapointed.

I'm 99% certain the only people this excited about whatever it is Canon's about to release are the people from POTN!

Ye have little faith...

Im sure people on FM and maybe even N*&^9ns are watching this... I think this is one of the best ways Canon has released a camera yet...

Hmm... recent history has shown that Canon introduces a new model and within weeks aa competitor does the same which puts the Canon release to shame. Maybe this time it will be different.

I dubt this thread will die immediately, but it will eventually die. That has something to do with "evolution" or "destiny", I'm not sure. ;)

The D700 was released in July.

I heard that the moved the direct print button to the right side of the camera.

Right next to the AF-ON button for fast access when you need it.

When my client says they want prints, they will get them NOW!! Can't wait for the new shutter/direct print button. Does both at the same time. Canon, you have done it again!!

The print button on the 50D also triggers live view. Maybe that'll apply to the 5D successor as well. At least then it wouldn't be totally useless, only overwhelmingly useless. =P

It'd be nice if they CALLED it a Print button in the Canon literature (oo topical, or what? See what I did there? ;)), but removed any picture of a printer from the body, and then made it customisable.

I would like to see a better LCD on the new camera, More accurate colors and a RAW histogram instead of showing the Processed JPEG histogram. I guess it is too late for wish lists though.

I am curious. Do the 1-series dSLR's, which are clearly geared for professional users, have Direct Print buttons as well? Do professional photographers actually ever use this button/feature? I understand Canon placing this button/feature on the entry-level bodies and even maybe the prosumer level cameras, but if the majority of professionals do not care for it, why should it make its way on a professional or semi-pro level camera?

It is an improvement that the 50D's Direct Print button doubles as a trigger for Live View mode (is this through custom functions?), but for this new 5D MkII (or whatever it turns out to be), I would like to see it replaced completely. It could be something like a Live View/MLU button instead.

Personally, I would be very fond of a "Kick-Ass" or "Obliterate" button. :)
