Hello has anybody ever had any problems with this collar.I was out shooting one day with it, i felt it was loose i tried tighten it up and the knob fall right out of it.

i seen a notch on the collar itself and it looked like it was worn, worn soo bad it will not tighten up now on the lens.I sent canon a couple of messages about it and they said buy a new one or send it to be repaired.

What is your advice on this.and i think it was my fault by over tightening it, what would you think and how to prevent it next time.thanks Sean .L

I just got the same tripod mount for a 70-200 f/4. It loooks like the screw is retained by an e clip and washer. And then there is a spring. If the e clip came loose, the screw would probably come loose if loosened all of the way. You are most likely missing some key parts.

You may be able to salvage the collar by using a different screw to tighten the hinged strap of the collar. It wouldn't looks as "pretty" but it may function as intended. You may have to do some drilling and tapping.

Cheers,
Jeff
