So I noticed during my last wedding shoot that my 20D kept showing a dead battery. I didn't get it as I had a total of 4 fully charged batteries and it was working earlier on in the day. So as a well equipped wedding shoot, I kept shooting with my 1D.
At the reception during some downtime, I took apart the 20D/BG-E2, and my second shooter (Cosworth) noticed that one of the 11 pins on the BG-E2 was stuck down. Meh. A little knocking and it wouldn't budge, so I used the 20D without the grip (boy is that annoying!).
I finally got around to taking off the two small screws on the end of the grip, but noticed that there is a ribbon cable, and 2 small wires connecting it all together. I pulled off 3 more small screws to loosen the circuit board, and in doing so, ended up snapping off one of the small metal peices (dope!).
Anyhoo, so what done is done, I'm not sure if its even worth sending it to Canon to get fixed, of if it's just worth buying another used grip.
