...since I don't post my shots as frequently as I usually do on this forum...and I get much of my feedback from the ne'er-do-wells over at flickr, I figure I'd kick out a few of my newer shots for critique here (since the flickr tends to be more praise, and less constructo-criticism). :p

All shot with what seems to be the sharpest uncalibrated 10-22 in existence.

Thanks for looking.

I really liked the depth of field in the honey picture. Nicely done. Was that done with a 10-22 canon?

I like cinnamon bears!

Yes, all pics posted were using a Canon 10-22.

In the "honey" picture, I supplemented the bokeh by masking in a gradient blur in PSCS3 to de-emphasize the cheesy cars in the background.

In #1 the leaf in upper right is too distracting and should be toned down a bit. Otherwise a great print - Congratulations!

#2's composition is simple to the point of being overly simple. However, I like the contrasting textures and the play on shades of green. Again, very nice!

#3 doesn't come through to me with any message - only mystery. The wood texture is interesting, but the sign is just an enigma. I don't think that one will go anywhere.

#4 - Raw Honey, is great. This is an image that I'm glad you presented in B & W, because it is a good example of the kind of work done in the days of Margaret Bourke-White and the FSA. Nice range of tonality and an interesting scene with good composition and good exposure.

In #5 I have to admit to not having any idea as to what it is that has been left behind in this trailer. There just aren't enough clues here to give me any way to identify with this scene - so I don't think it's going anywhere.

I commend you on your usage of the 10-22. It is not an easy lens to get used to, and it takes constant attention to detail in order to keep it level and minimize distortion. Congratulations!

I hate to tell you this, but when you made your last edit to this post in order to correct the "grammer", you mis-spelled grammar:lol:

I love the color and texture of #3, but I don't like the way the top of it was cut off. I would have liked to see wood on top and bottom, if it was possible. Regardless, it's a great shot.

Thanks all for the honest input/feedback, I truly appreciate it.

Robert_Lay, in #5, I know it is hard to make out, but that is a transient sleeping on a mattress in the traincar in the fetal position (back facing me), had to crop and resize, b/c I only had a 10-22 at the moment, I will try again (if I get the chance) using a more appropriate lens. Good catch on the grammer/grammar....the "Frasier" reruns are finally taking their toll on my brain. I agree with you on the 10-22, but it is by far my favorite EF-S lens, once I [eventually] go fullframe, I'm gonna keep my 30d just so I can still use my 10-22 (which I might as well weld onto the body at that point).

Cowboylife, thanks for the suggestion, the RAW for this file has plenty of wood above and below the sign, I will try a different crop with your suggestion (once again, shot with a 10-22, so luckily it worked in my benefit this time).

#1 and # 3 update (see OP).

Thanks again!

That's tough. The tighter crop adds a lot more detail/texture while the wider crop is more pleasing to me as far as composition goes. Regardless they're great!
