I think would have done better with a little shallower dof, as its just a touch too busy. the man and statue are also too stacked on top of each other, which gives less ballance to image. over all a decent image. Looks like you might be in an area with some interesting activity. You should start learning about depth-of-field and apply the concepts to your images. For example, try this same shot with your kit lens wide-open, meaning at f/3.5. Try to blur the background while leaving the main subject in focus.

May I say for a beginner that's an awfully good shot and well observed. I agree about the shallower DOF but you've picked him out of the crowd for a picture so that shows a good eye.
