The RC2 quick release assembly doesn't fit on the bloody monopod because the support pad thing is too wide and gets stuck on the tightening thing on the bottom of the QR

Now should I use it without a quick release (not liking this idea as I would like to easily ditch the monopod to get a shot, I actually hate monopods, but bought one for my back) or stick my 488RC2 on it?

There are several options. Of those, I use the Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head on my monopod. The 488RC2 would work, of course, but it's a little heavier than the 486.

There is also the 234RC - a one-axis swivel/tilt head which works for many folks and uses the RC2 QR system.
