Evening all,
Yesterday I went to a soaking Prescott to watch the practice for todays round of the British Hillclimb Champs.
The light and rain was diabolical, and I shot at between 1000 and 1600 iso on my Canon ID MK2 AND 35-350 L,but all things considered was quite happy with what I came back, including a condensated lens after lunch, which meant rain stop play for me fairly early, however the practice was stopped soon after thanks to rivers running down the track.

I love the single seaters,so thats what your getting ,said he chuckling.

First up Sue Young, quickest lady driver around at the moment.

Rather like these next couple of shots.

And again,

Onto towards the next bend and the awesome predator of graham wight jun.

And in to the approach,

and my favourite shot,Eynon Price ex rally man.

Jos Goodyear,in his fantastic Gould, all the right bits, and very ,very quick.

And finally the always fantastically committed Trevor Willis leaving a bit of spray.

Any comments always welcomed, good or bad.

Have you seen the Top Gear when they raced an Austin Healey Sprite against a modified Peugeot 306 on this track?

No I have not,but I assume you mean they were timed against each other making separate runs.

Thanks for the comments folks,it was some wet day,but really glad I went.

Lovely shots Chris, 4, 5, & 8 stand out because you've "opened up" which gives some idea of how tight the climb is, also in #5 you can see the line he took.

Why would anyone wear a dark visor in the rain under trees with falling leaves?

awesome! I actually like the grain added by the high iso - it kinda just goes with low light...

the water makes these shots... well done on the getting wet part... i love the spray

drift on 3 is great
spray on 4 rocks
showing the "S" track and reflection in 5 is great
head tilt, spot of sunlight and sharpness of 8 make it a winner...

looks like a fun day in the rain!

Great shots Chris. I really wanted to get down there on Saturday as I like wet shots and haven't got any of the top class cars but unfortunately had other commitments. Should have gone on Sunday but just dampness didn't have the same appeal!

I like both shots of Eynon Price. He's famed for being tail happy but I never seem to be able to capture it. Having said that there was some on board footage from him on the recent hillclimb tv show and that all looked quite controlled.

My only comment on the photos is I think you could get away with a bit more sharpening to make the cars that little crisper - it may be that the spray and any iso noise makes that difficult. Oh, and I think #1 is Andy (or Mark) Coley rather than Sue Young.

Thanks folks, really pleased you like them,as this was my first ever real wet weather shoot, because had wimped out in the past or hid my camera under my coat.
Did suffer from quite bad condensation on inside of lens after leaving gear in car over tiffin, and so it was the early bath ,quite literally.

Rich D,
Glad you noticed that ,I had too after posting,on 1 ,so thanks for putting that right.
Not sure about the sharpening ,but I suspect though could be wrong that the lens is not quite up there with 120-300 ,or 70-200s for clarity ,but to shoot at 1600 iso most of the day was the biggest bonus.
My mate Alistair even went 3200 on his Mk 3 at times.
Re ,Eynon,he is quick alright, though Kenrick is the kiddie to watch ,blindingly quick.

Nicko,
Thanks for the kind words.
Swiss Toni,
Thanks again, and yes I wished I had taken more like 5.
Was my first time at Prescott with camera and certainly learned loads for next visit.
It's very photographer friendly even from public side which these all were.

Prescott rocks !

Hi Jim,thanks mate.
Two Salmon ! ,well done to you indeed.
Do you ever photograph them ? ,one of my Salmon pics is the front cover shot on Bob Churches new Salmon book.
I usually get on my local rivers with camera october onwards, but at the moment they are bank high.
Regards,
Pons
