Hello everyone!
I am a beginner with photoshop and would like your comments and critiques.

This is a candid photo of my daughter in her room near a window. All I did to it in photoshop is turn it black and white, made an "s" out of the curves line, and put my site on the bottom. I also despeckled.

Any tips on how I could improve this photo or other techniques I can look into to improve my photos?

You could start by taking out the html tags and use the actual link to the image, not the photobucket page.:p

Take out the underscores around the IMG

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

I think you may have overdone the contrast increase, because now the shot has burned out highlights.

You have a nice model and a decent pose, but the lighting could be improved to give her softer shadows, which should be running diagonally across the face. I would also choose a higher vantage point so that you are looking slightly down on her face rather than slightly up.

I would also try to do something to avoid such a bright, distracting background.
