Does anyone have any tips for getting rid of the wild hair (to the left side of the face) in this picture. I'm using Photoshop Elements 6 on a MacBook. I love this shot of my daughter and would love to clean up the wind blown hair

I think you should leave it.
You can clone it out if you want to get rid of it, but it is difficult to do a really clean job with hair.
I think you should crop the top down a bit and add a little saturation and contrast.

I didnt spend a lot of time on this to make it perfect because it would take about an hour to really get the bushes to look natural, but you get the idea.

To do this,
1. Use the clone stamp tool with varying sized brushes (I mostly used 20-65px sized brushes. Set the Opacity to different settings (40-80%)

2. Copy/Paste sections from the top right of the image into where her hair was, then adjust the Opacity to that to 50% or so, then use the Eraser tool to get rid of the hard edges.s

As a father of three girls who all played youth soccer (now college age), I think it's charming. I wouldn't "clean up" the hair.

The wind-blown hair looks quite natural for an outdoor 'sports' related shot IMO - if the shot was a posed portrait or wedding shot it would be a different matter - The hair also balanced the composition :-)

I agree. It looked better with the hair.

I agree that the windblown hair looks fine and more "authentic", but he isn't asking for our opinion.

He wanted to see an example of what it would look like without the windblown hair. So....
