Sekonic L-358 triggering help plz..

Just recently bought a L-358, love it. But wanted the Radio Triggering aspect, so it would fire my lights, and do a meter reading.

I bought a RT-32, stuck that in the back of my L-358, and i already have a radio Receiver that came with my lights, that i bought. A DRT-2G, (that i plug into the back of my softbox)(Square Perfect gear)

Well for the life of me, i can't get the L-358 to fire my lights, maybe i'm setting things up wrong...

Any Help would be great.

I am not sure what a DRT-2G is, but the L358 with a module is only made to trigger Pocket Wizard receivers.

I believe the RT-32 module is for Pocket Wizard units....

As was said... the Sekonic trigger is only for Pocket Wizards. However, all is not lost. Here's how I do it... I use the non-corded triggering mode and then I hit the button and it waits for the flash. With the transmitter in hand, I fire the test button and it takes the reading. The Pocket Wizard solution is better mind you, but if you don't have PW's, then it's really you only alternative to hard cords.

+1 - that's what I do with my Cybersyncs.

I plug a transmitter into the L-358, put a receiver on the flash, the L-358 triggers the strobes fine. No experience with the PW module.

hmm. i would think there's got to be a way to do this.. pocket wizards can't be the only way.

do i need to set my L-358 a certain way. One mode do i need it on to do that.

You need to use the mode that triggers the light. I forget what the symbol is, I think it's the fourth from the left. I never read the manual (I got a couple chapters in but it was boring and simple) but it's probably but it's probably in there somewhere.

i'll do some playing. if your using wires (receivers/transmitter​) i probably don't need the sekonic RT-32...cause it sounds like thats for the pocket wizards.

Yes it's only for pocket wizards. Wire goes into whatever transmitter you use, you didn't say.

Select the highlighted icon, set your shutter speed, push the meter's measure button, trip your strobes with the test button on your transmitter.

If you use the correct mode you use the button on the side of the L-358, it will trigger the transmitter, you don't need to use the test button. I think it's the mode two icons to the right of the icon highlighted above.

But if you use the one I've indicated you don't need a wire and you can trip the remote from on top of the camera.

So i just need to get something clear..since i'm going to return it if i don't need it..

The RT-32 for the L-358 is for pocket wizards only.? Correct?
