Here is my most recent attempt at volleyball, I've only shot this sport 2 times and that was about 1 year ago with my old equipment. This is definitely one of the hardest sports ive ever shot at.

Anyways on with the pics.

who was hosting.. I would not think that UCLA have such bad lightning.

Did you run and noise reduction on these? They look very noisy

UCR was hosting,

i didnt run them thru noise ninja because i dont have it and know how to use it, and they are noisy because i had to shoot at ISO3200 to get 1/400-1/500th shutter speed

Yikes, that must have been pretty lousy lighting. I recently shot college Vball with the 40D + grip and the 200 2.8 and was able to pull ISO1250, 1/500 at f/3.2 in what I considered standard lighting.

What lens did you use and did you have the room to use a larger aperture?

This is definitely one of the hardest sports ive ever shot at.

:D Just wait 'till you try hockey!

You have the right idea in timing those. I'd suggest that you get off Auto WB & maybe think about the 85mm f/1.8 if you're going to shoot more in that crappy lighting. I didn't have one when I shot these on my first failed attempt at VBall:
Some Volly Ball Tournament Tests **56K Warning!**

Post #3 suggests a way to salvage crappy results. ;)

These are looking much yellower than the 1st set.

From the link I gave you:

#4 is #3 with some noise reduction with Noise Ninja on a setting of 13. Higher settings made her skin look unnatural, and two processings would be needed with a Layer mask to combine good settings for her skin with more NR on the background. Still, it would be doable, & might make an OK 8 X 10" print.

Unless you use the mask probably included with Neat Image, you need to be careful of using NR on the person as it will add even more blur to your image.
I would use a Layer Mask so I can paint in the NR from a separate layer only where I want it on the target layer.

See the Tutorial on layer Masking in post #9; (PS Elements in Post # 14)
A question about sky.

The neat image is the demo and limited. I really need to get PS and start learning. Thanks for the input, it's invaluable.
I also need to read, read, read........

i was using my 70-200 2.8

i have a 50 1.8 but it focuses too slow and the FL is too short.
