I'm looking at purchasing a sigma 10-20 in the near future and will be shelling out some extra for a decent CP. My question is whether anyone currently using this lens experiences vignetting at the 10mm end with standard size filters. Do I need to look into the "slim" filter line and deal with slip on lens caps?

Has anyone tried this filter? http://sigma4less.com …-coated-glass-filter.html (external link)

Otherwise I was looking at either a Hoya MC or a B+W MC.

TIA. :)

Thats what I was afraid of, but I would prefer a real lens cap

I ended up ordering this Hoya Pro1 MC CP/UV combo: http://hvstar.net …ction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=687 (external link)

According to the Hoya Pro1 description:

The Hoya Pro 1 Digital Circular Polarizer takes advantage of Hoya's patented optical glass technology to create a hardened glass that is thinner than the normal optical glass. This allows the overall thickness of the filter to be reduced to avoid vignetting when used with ultra-wide angle lenses.

Plus I saw a few others were using this filter from the archive

What a coincidence that I just bought a CPL today for my Wigma - a Kenko Pro D1 that has the low profile and I can confirm that it has threads so that it can hold a regular lens cap! Apparently, this glass is the same as the Hoyas but cheaper.

The filter is labelled as "wideband" but this has to with color correction when viewing in the viewfinder as opposed to it's thickness, which other people have incorrectly thought. I see no vignetting on the wide end...

That's what I want to hear :D

I also read comments that the Kenko's are rebadged Hoya's.

I bought a cheap regular thickness Hoya CPL and had no problems with vignetting.
IIRC, that CPL is a thinner variety so it should also be fine. I don't recommend putting the cpl on top of the UV filter though as that may degrade IQ a bit and cause vignetting.
