I know this doesn't affect the ability of the camera. The powershot G6 is a great point and shoot camera. But why on earth did Canon go with a silver body color instead of staying with black like with the G5? Thanks for listening.

Also, they made enough changes from the G5 to the G6 that it is easily recognizable that you have a nice new camera. As the only change from the G3 to the G5 was the sensor, there had to be some kind of way for G5 owners to immediately display they have the latest and greatest ![]() Just kidding, of course. Best regards, Andy You KNOW of course, this could be more truth than fiction. The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

My G3 is silver, and I think it looks great. But if it was black, I'd think it would look great. Canon G3, Kodak DC4800, Elements3

I classify everything that can't have interchangeable lenses under the PAS category. And this isn't to say the G-series is a bad camera for the Professional, I have actually seen a Pro who shoots mostly with 20D & L lenses....who still prefers shooting Macro with her G3 and produces some amazing shots. I like my silver G3. It looks nice. Not flashy. Would not attract a thief. I have a lensmate adapter, and people think I am shooter an old film SLR sometimes.

Point a small silver camera at them and they think you're some touristy fool who's producing 3R prints for your home scrapbook. Little do they know... you own a stealth camera.

From a brief search of model histories, it appears that until the early 90's, SLRs were chrome finish with some black leatherette wrapping on the body. Was that the beginning of the Darth Vader style, or are there earlier black on black incarnations? 7D, G10, 17-55 f/2.8 IS, 70-200 f/2.8 IS, 100 Macro, 50 f/1.4, 430EX II
