has anyone ever shot the last file on a full card in RAW format and had the card go bung? or is that an urban myth?

im always paranoid about that and leave about 3 shots on any full card just in case the next one i shoot is really huge and stuffs the whole card

That has to be an urban myth....Have you ever had this happen with a cd, floppy disk, harddrive etc? You simply get a message telling you it is full or doesn't fit ... I don't see how stuffing a card is even possible...

However, I see your concern... I do not understand how the last file always fits if it has the possibility of exceeding the remaining space available since RAW files do vary slightly in size.... I am sure there is some algorithm behind it that I don't understand... But I DO NOT hesitate at all to fill a card or worry when I see "card full"....

Come to think of it that must be why my one CF expanded and cracked the other day like a bag of microwave popcorn....
