After reading all the opinions of the EFS 10-22, I took the plunge and bought the lens, and one of the side benefits was that it takes a 77 mm filter, the same size as my EF 24-105L.

Now my problem is, and hopefully not a problem, is that I'm 'surprised' at how far the front element moves forward at 10 mm, and I'm reluctant to fit my Hoya Pro1 CPL to the lens as I cannot see if the front element will hit the filter at 10 mm.

Does anyone here use this combination (EFS 10-22 + Hoya Pro1 CPL) without any problems ?

Thanks in advance

I have that combo and have shot with it, but the lens is so damn wide that you get very odd polarising effects across the frame as the amount of polarisation varies quite a bit from one side of the image to the other. I am unaware of any problems with the lens touching the filter.

Here are a couple of examples of that weird distribution of polarisation across the frame. If you look for the effect you can see it through the viewfinder, but it is not immediately obvious (to me) so I really have to pay attention to what I'm doing. I have ruined quite a few shots by destroying the sky like this....

I "had" one as well. And no, I never had an issue with the filter. And yes, with it being so wide it can make for weird shots with a CPL.. But when you get it right, the shots you can get are awesome!!

stick on a filter and don't worry. The element does move a lot but it will never hit the filter. I've had a filter on my 10-22 since day 1.

There are indeed reports that some filters can hit the front element - depends on the filter - I think it was a Canon filter -
I have a Hoya digital Pro1 UV and that sits about 1 mm in front of the front element.
I checked by putting some lens cleaning tissue on the lens and screwing the filter back on.
