Why couldn't Canon bring out a new camera with a built in portrait grip, but which would not be as tall as the 1D? I played around in photoshop and came up with this... wouldn't it be nice?

Consider that the XXD + Grip is about the same height as the 1D. There's more to it than just having a grip...your fingers have to go somewhere. Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here

I love the feature set of the 1D and the performance but the body size is just not conducive to portability especially while packing. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
