Of course it is! Just move the light in close if you're fighting sunlight, but I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible. Work with what you have - equipment AND conditions! Remember - you don't have to have a big power-eating modifier on there, you can remove the diffusion cloth from a softbox to turn it into a large reflector, etc. Be creative!

Actually, the pictures will be inside a church and i will be using an umbrella, with a black cover to bounce the light.


Anybody have any examples? what about lighting the background?

I've never done church formals, and I hope never to have to. The problem with blasting them with lots of light from a big strobe is the people may be lit well, but the background will be dark or have shadows on it. You might be better off shooting with a speedlite shot into an umbrella, for portability, and using an exposure setting that exposes the background properly.

Thats what I figured. Guess Im going to go with a second one to light the background.
