Tbh, I'm surprised it hasn't been introduced already. We're in the age of touch screen now with things like the iphone and such, im sure sooner or later the screen will cover the full back of the camera and there will only be a few buttons because everything else will be touch screen!

I wonder if this has anything to do with that Bill Gates/Jerry Seinfeld comercial?

My Sony HD videocam has a touch screen for some functions. I don't like it.

I dont think it would be an advantage at all. Your nose would be constantly changing the settings!?! LOL

already got a fix for that, implement the eye sensor for the Rebel series so that the LCD turns off when your eye is on the viewfinder! :D

A touch screen option the full size or even part size of the back of a camera would be an awful idea.

Everytime you put your eye to the eyecup your cheek touches the screen and changes the settings and you once in a lifetime shot goes up in smoke.

Touch screen nice technology just not for the back of a DSLR.

I'm sure there is a way round it tbh. Especially with new technology.

Heck even a button right under the thumb in shooting position which just acts as an "on/off" button for sensitising/desensitising the screen. And/or the face sensor like on the XTi (and other cameras) so that as soon as u get near the eye cup the LCD turns off.

Just look at the iphone to see how they could protect from accidental touches.

I have an iphone, i can see it being cool to review, zoom in and around pics on replay. I think i would like to know what else it would make easier. I like being able to stay looking thru the viewfinder and adjust multiple settings by touch (wheel, buttons, etc.)

If it went to touch how will you be able to change settings while using live view to shoot a video...like every professional photographer will soon be doing;)

Exactly. The stereo in my truck is a touchpanel for most things and I hate the lack of tactile feedback for things like changing the channel. At least with driving I can just glance down to look, a camera would be even worse.

A touchscreen has no place on a DSLR! Setting need to be at our fingertips (QC dial, main dial) and need to be changed without removing our eye from the viewfinder. I hope Canon *never* tries this.
