This is my fist post here and I reallly need some help....

OK I have a a tough decision to make. Its time for a second primary camera. I have looked at the 5D, 40D and 50D. I have a real paying wedding at the end of the month and my 30D has a shutter button that needs to be fixed. I am really thinking about trading it in and getting 2 of whatever I choose....Just a thought right now. I f I go with the (1 all I can afford) 5d my chances of getting my 70-200 are shot and I have to get my 30d repaired. Would it be worth it and keep renting lenses and have a full frame camera?? Hmmmmm!!! I really wish all the cameras were on the table I don't think the 50D will be out until mid October and that doesn't help my situation.

:confused::confused::confused:

Welcome! How do you like the 30D? If it is right for you, get it repaired and/or get a refurbished 30D.

So realistically your choices are
1. the 5D
2. the 40D and the 70-200
Not knowing anything else about your situation I’d go camera and lens.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

easier solution, rent two 5d, 70-200, 24-70, two 580ex. it'll come in around 400, maybe a bit more for half a week to a week, but then you have it covered regardless of what happens to the 30d

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

If it's a wedding, paying job or not, you'll need two of everything at least. Equipment failure is inexcusable.

Basroil's advice looks good to me.
