So I've tried getting this shot a few times and the scene seems to work best at night, but my angles are restricted because of other trucks/equipment surrounding these sand spreaders.
Any ideas on how I could re-frame the shot or edit it afterwords to bring out the industrial/gritty side of it more? Hard (or not possible) to explain how I visualize it, but any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Personally, I don't see what subject you're going for here, nothing holds my eye's interest.

A couple of things I see. First, there is too much going on in the background. Isolation would help. Trying shooting close, wide open? And you need the whole unit in the frame I think. Feet on the ground.

Have you tried different heights for the camera? Shoot straight on rather than up?

Yeah I think the main two points are: 1) Make the top of the spreader level with the frame, and open the lens wide open so you can blur out the background. Try to keep a single one in the frame. You'll probably need to lock the focus and recompose to get it right.

Also not a fan of the desaturated color in general. Give it some life.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it another go. Something about a sand spreader during the summer seems interesting. It's as if its on vacation for the summer.

either get straight on and square up all the lines w/ the frame or get more to the side - shoot lower to make the spreader seem more dominating

here's a quick edit... at the risk of overprocessing... i isolated the machine by blurring the background, modified slightly the perspective, and introduced high contrast with noise to give it an industrial feel... not quite there... but you get my interpretation (i think it looks like a decepticon)

Love the edit, especially the latter. I'm working on some shots I got last night so I'll hopefully have a couple new ones that improve on the first. Thanks for the help.
