Provided they clearly mark it as a USED item (big label on the customs sheet) you should be ok. It boils down to the value as well, I've had members ship items from the US that were $650 and it passed right through but other times $950 I got hit. A friend bought a 50 1.2 L off a member in the US and he clearly marked it used and there was no tax.

I usually mark it as A) Gift and B) write in capital letters "USED CANON CAMERA LENS" on the declaration. To my knowledge I haven't had a member in the US tell me they got dinged for taxes on items I shipped them. I also ship from Canada via Xpresspost 2-3 day option which when it crosses the border becomes USPS Air I believe.

There used to be Canon gear here but it disappeared.

Should be the same, aside from the amount of taxes if there are any.
