Hey everyone. I returned from paradise to a rain soaked and wind blown city this past weekend with 800 photos and a significantly lighter pocketbook. After 12 days in Hawai'i, I wasn't necessarily ready to leave (would one ever be?), but it was a long enough trip to not feel terrible about heading home.

It was a good trip, lucky even. My 70-200f/2.8 dropped out of my backpack onto concrete from 4ft up, and fortunately the only damage it incurred was a nice pockmark in the lens hood. The weather was fantastic as well, but I suppose that's all relative.

For those of you that live in Hawai'i, thank you for your hospitality and sharing your little peice of paradise. Here's a few shots that I took over the last two weeks. Enjoy!

These are just a few, but you can see all the rest on my Flickr account. (external link)

Very nice set and a wonderful place to go.

I really like #4.
Also, great capture on the sea turtle (#5) - his shell was easily mistaken for a rock until I saw his head.

Curious about where you took #2. Did you hike, drive or fly there?

Thank you! #2 was at the VERY end of the road up to Waimea Canyon. There's a relatively good lookout up towards the end of road that most people stop at (it's already pretty spectacular) and don't go any further. Keep going. It's the end of the road, so you really can't miss it. The area is called the Na Pali coast. It's an area of Kauai that you can't drive into. From that point, you can only access it by foot, boat, or helicopter. Pretty spectacular.

Thank you. I got pretty lucky. That was actually the first go at a night shot that evening. I didn't have to keep the woman bored for all that long.

The island of Kaua'i. Just a sliver of the Na Pali Coast State Park. (external link)

A bit of straightening and cropping out a bit of the foreground. Few curve tweaks, but that's it. It really was/is that vibrant/lush.
