Did I lose my LR library?

I won't bore you with all the details. But I had to reinstall my OS on my Imac and I choose the option which would allow all my programs and settings and documents to stay intact. Well, I hadn't been doing the LR catalogue backups since August 4th (don't ask). Of course I still have all of the photos taken since then, but I don't have any of my edits anymore. My question is if there is any other possible place the catalogue could be? I can't believe that between my mobile me backups, and time machine there is no way to get it.

I don't want to add to the pain; but isn't this a good reason to use either XMP sidecar files or DNG (which I personally prefer as all data in one file)? As I understand it if you do "save metadata to file" and have the catalog preferences set to write changes to XMP files automatically then you aren't dependant on the intactness of the catalog database.

To clarify: Time machine doesn't help?
You should be able to find the previous Lightroom Catalog.lrcat file I'd think...

OK - I checked spotlight and time machine and the only .lrcat files are the same ones that I already knew about - with the last one being on August 4th.

Strange. I'd assume time machine should have a copy of the latest catalog...
No experience with 10.5 however...

I just don't get this. Now, when I open time machine, it only goes back a few days ago when I reinstalled the OS. So what's the point if all my backups are gone?

Just a guess, but maybe TimeMachine's "library" also got re-installed?

You might be lucky, and have the backup somewhere still, just not "seen" by TimeMachine...
Then again, the re-install might have caused TM to overwrite the backup.

Like I said, all of this is guessing, since I have no experience with 10.5.
Hopefully sombody who has will chime in...

I unplugged the time machine external drive before doing the reinstall.
