Graphics tablet question

Im looking at buying a graphics tablet and there are two that I am looking at. Obviously one is the wacom intuos3 6X8 and the other is a local name brand (well respected) the only difference that I can see is that the local name brand one has a resolution of 4000LPI while the intuos has 5080. I really dont know what that means; so in doing photo editing will this make a difference?

Probably not. If you were doing sketching it *might* but even then it probably won't.

I use a wacom graphire3 4x6 or whatever the size is for editting still and it works fine for me. Again if I was sketching or doing stuff other than editting pictures I'd want a bigger one. But for picture editting the smaller ones seem to work fine.

Edit: Just a quick edit to add a disclaimer; I'm by no means any sort of expert in any of this. :P Just my experience playing around with a couple other people's tablets and my graphire3 I use for my photo editting.

you local name brand will need a battery in the stylus, and won't last as long as the wacom..
