Intentionally, also the hand is not in focus, the focus was set on the light source. Anyone want to guess what the light source is?

Aha! I see.

Would it be one of those gelled chemicals that effluoresce when you break the tube?

My second guess would be an off camera electronic flash.

Good guesses but nope.

It was an LCD monitor, my hand is actually touching it. You can't see the LCD because I set the polarizing filter on the lens to block out its direct light (apparently LCD screens work by polarizing light). Of course the reflected light still shows around the hand.

If I had it any brighter you could just make out the POTN forums on the LCD, I think it was a thread about a 50mm 1.2 on the screen.

I like the sort of inverted shadow effect it had, I think it could be used to great effect with a larger screen and different colours put on the screen in different places..

That's fascinating.
I have to think a while about all of the ramifications of that.
