I am sure that this subject has been encountered a million times, but here we go again.
My brother is getting married next fall, and I would like to try to get some good pictures from it. I have not been asked to be the actual photographer(and I kind of hope he doesn't ask me), but I think it would be good practice and a good gesture to try and get some different types of shots that the regular photog might not get. Since I have never done any weddings or really any portrait work thus far, I was wondering where a good starting point would be.
I was also wondering if there were any St. Louis based photographers on the forum that I might be able to refer my brother too. I would even be willing to help out as a second shooter for someone if they did not mind my novice skills. I will probably be renting a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS to use for the wedding and bringing my Canon 50mm f/1.8 and possibly a Canon 85mm 1.8 if I can pick one up by then. I have also considered picking up a Sigma 24-60 f/2.8 lens since it seems to be kind of a sleeper. I think it might be a little loud though... I only have one camera body(40D), but I figured if I teamed up with somebody that we could plan out who had what lens.
